Clear, transparent guidance on specifying, sourcing, and installing authentic Connemara Granite.

Sourcing & Provenance

Where exactly is the stone quarried?

Every piece of our granite is sourced directly from our private quarry in Shannapheasteen, Connemara, Co. Galway, Ireland. We handle the extraction and Hand Finished completely on-site, ensuring 100% authentic Irish provenance.

No. While both share the legendary green tones of the West of Ireland, Connemara Marble is a softer, serpentine calcium carbonate stone primarily used for jewelry, gifts, and fine indoor accents. Our Connemara Granite is an incredibly dense, 400-million-year-old igneous rock containing silver-blue quartz and green mineral deposits, making it structural, weather-resistant, and ideal for heavy architectural building, paving, and outdoor masonry.

Yes. We regularly welcome architects, contractors, and private clients to the Shannapheasteen site to inspect raw dimensional blocks and choose specific color profiles for their projects. Please contact Jimi in advance to arrange a scheduled site visit.

Technical Specs & Applications

What finishes are available for architectural stone?

Hand finished,
Flamed,
Shot blast,
Polished,
Split-face (natural raw edge)

Exceptionally so. Natural granite is one of the hardest, least porous building materials on earth. It completely defies frost-thawing cycles, resists water absorption, and possesses immense compressive strength, making it ideal for structural sea walls, heavy civic paving, and monumental construction.

Logistics & Sustainability

What are your typical lead times?

Lead times vary depending on the scale of the architectural specifications and current quarry production extraction phases. Standard building stone or curbing blocks can often be dispatched quickly, while large-scale dimensional orders or custom hand-dressed commissions require scheduled tracking. Contact us directly for a precise logistical quote.

Our extraction process is carried out using responsible quarrying practices that minimise waste and environmental impact. We comply with all relevant environmental regulations and continuously work to reduce dust, noise, and resource consumption while producing high-quality natural stone.
